Mr. Butters drafted and lobbied in support of legislative initiatives that included
the expansion of standing for Design Professionals to bring suit to enjoin
unlicensed practice and the removal of statutory construction supervision
obligations for Design Professionals engaged on School Projects. Both initiatives
became law. He is currently chairing efforts to remove “sole negligence” clauses
from State construction contracts and efforts to institute Certificate of Merit
requirements as a condition precedent to bringing claims against Design
Professionals. |
Mr. Butters has represented numerous clients pursuant to an insurer’s obligation
to defend, including claims exceeding $14,000,000.00, achieving results satisfactory
to clients and carriers. He is approved counsel for CNA and has also served XL
Professional, DPIC, Lloyds of London and Kemper.
